After being held numerous times on the 3rd reading calendar, H411 was returned to the House Education Committee.

Friday, 1/26/24:

Rep. Lanting presented H411 in House Ed on Wednesday. Several representatives shared concerns about what student records are already being collected. Rep. Lanting and Chairwoman Julie Yamamoto insisted that many of the records that are mentioned in the existing statute are not actually being collected. Rep. Jack Nelson added that private student records are not subject to public records requests.

The committee voted to send H411 to the floor with a do pass recommendation.

Monday, 1/22/24:

Rep. Greg Lanting introduced House Bill 411 in House Education last week. This clarifies language about how student data should be protected and what data is specifically not allowed to be collected. H411 is pending a hearing in House Ed.
