RELEASE: Crapo Statement on Mullin to Lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Washington, D.C.–U.S. Senator for Idaho Mike Crapo released the following statement after voting in favor of Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-Oklahoma) to lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security:

“At a time when our nation faces complex and evolving threats, strong leadership is essential to restore order and refocus the Department on its core mission—keeping Americans safe,” said Crapo.  “Senator Mullin has been a consistent advocate for securing our borders and upholding the rule of law.  He is well-positioned to lead the Department and will continue to build upon the successes of the Trump Administration to stop illegal immigration and safeguard the homeland.”

The U.S. Senate confirmed Mullin’s nomination by a vote of 54-45.
