BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Republican Party thanks the people of Idaho for participating in Tuesday’s general election, rejecting Proposition 1, and returning Republican leaders to office at the federal, state, and legislative levels.
“Yesterday, Idahoans went to the polls and made their voices heard,” said Idaho GOP Chairwoman Dorothy Moon. “Despite a national blue wave, Idaho voters stood strong on the issues that matter most. We are especially grateful to those who rejected Proposition 1 and affirmed Idaho’s commitment to protecting unborn life. Thank you to everyone who helped share the truth about this radical initiative. Idaho values life!”
The Idaho GOP congratulates Sen. Jim Risch on his reelection, decisively defeating a former Democrat-turned-independent, along with Congressmen Russ Fulcher and Mike Simpson. We also congratulate Gov. Brad Little, Lt. Gov. Scott Bedke, Attorney General Raúl Labrador, Secretary of State Phil McGrane, State Controller Brandon Woolf, State Treasurer Julie Ellsworth, and Superintendent of Public Instruction Debbie Critchfield on their victories.
These results return experienced Republican leadership to the offices responsible for representing Idaho in Washington, administering state government, and carrying out the laws enacted by the Legislature.
Republicans also maintained their strong majorities in both chambers of the Idaho Legislature. The Idaho GOP congratulates all returning and newly elected Republican legislators, particularly those who faced competitive races. In Legislative District 6, Colton Bennett won a tough race for an open seat, while Sen. Dan Foreman and Rep. Brandon Mitchell held off strong challenges.
We also recognize the Republican candidates who fell short on Election Day, particularly incumbent Reps. Dori Healey of Boise, Dustin Manwaring of Pocatello, and Mike Pohanka of Legislative District 26. These legislators served the people of Idaho with dedication, but sometimes even good candidates are caught up in political circumstances beyond their control. We thank them for their service, along with every Republican candidate who made the sacrifices necessary to stand for election this year.
“An election is never the work of one person,” Moon continued. “From the candidates who put their names on the ballot to the precinct committeemen, county and district leaders, donors, and volunteers who knocked on doors, made phone calls, and talked to their neighbors, this was a tremendous statewide effort. We are grateful to everyone who played a part.”
The Idaho GOP also thanks Idaho’s county clerks, election officials, and poll workers for administering the election, as well as every Idahoan who exercised the right to vote.
With the election behind us, Republicans look forward to continuing the work of defending faith, family, and freedom and ensuring Idaho remains a place where our children and grandchildren can prosper.
