Idaho Court of Appeals Judge Gene Petty will take his public oath of office during an investiture ceremony set for 1 p.m. MT on Friday, August 28.
The public, friends and family are invited to attend the ceremony in the Idaho Supreme Court courtroom in Boise, as well as a reception after. The ceremony will be streamed live online through Idaho In Session.
The Court of Appeals is made up of four judges who hear appeals as assigned by the state Supreme Court.
Gov. Brad Little appointed Judge Petty to the Court of Appeals in May. Judge Petty previously served as a district judge in Idaho’s Third Judicial District and a deputy county prosecutor focused on civil litigation. He has been deeply involved in efforts to strengthen Idaho’s behavioral health system and is a member of the Idaho Behavioral Health Council.
Judge Petty succeeds Judge Molly Huskey, who retired from the court in June.
