Pocatello, Idaho — David Worley, a Southeast Idaho husband, father of five, and Army National Guard infantry officer, today announced his campaign for Idaho State Senate in District 28.
Worley is a Pocatello High School graduate who earned a bachelor’s degree in Government and International Politics from George Mason University and a Master of Arts in Statecraft and National Security Affairs from the Institute of World Politics in Washington, DC. After more than a decade in Virginia, Worley and his family returned home to Southeast Idaho, where they are building their life and putting down deep roots.
Worley has served for twenty-three years in the armed forces, including fourteen years on active duty. He is a combat veteran with three deployments to the Middle East, including two tours to Iraq. He has led soldiers as an Infantry Company Commander and served as a Battalion Operations Officer, supervising a planning cell and coordinating operations for hundreds of soldiers. During the 2020 civil unrest in Richmond, Virginia, Worley was activated to support a National Guard mission focused on protecting lives and property.
“I have spent my adult life serving, and now I am running for the Idaho Senate to restore honest government and put Idahoans back in charge,” Worley said. “Honest government means transparency with taxpayer dollars, a Legislature that follows the Constitution, and leaders who tell the truth and keep their word. It also means defending the family as the foundation of a healthy society. Idaho’s Constitution identifies the very first concern of good government is the purity of the home. That is the standard our civic leaders should live up to.”
Worley will face incumbent State Senator Jim Guthrie in the Republican primary.
