The Department of Environmental Quality protects Idaho's air, land, and water quality, administering permits and enforcement under state and federal environmental law. The department's rulemaking is overseen by the seven-member Board of Environmental Quality, whose members are appointed by the Governor with Senate confirmation to staggered four-year terms.
