The Idaho Bean Commission, created in 1957, promotes Idaho's reputation as a top producer of disease-free dry and green bean seed and works to grow beans' profile as a nutritious food. Its eight Governor-appointed members—four district growers and four processor/shipper representatives—are funded by an assessment on the industry rather than by tax dollars.
