Dear Friend,

It was a productive week in Idaho’s Second District! I enjoyed having meetings with constituents and businesses in Idaho Falls, Twin Falls, and Boise.

First and foremost, after returning to Twin Falls for several meetings, I have to say how amazed I am by the strength of the Twin Falls community following the horrific shooting. God bless the people of Twin Falls, our brave law enforcement and first responders, and the brave individuals who acted swiftly and courageously.

Over in Boise, I had the opportunity to visit Western States Cat and learn more about their new and used equipment. Their equipment serves homeowners, contractors, and businesses throughout Idaho and the West.

Touring the New Idaho National Guard Readiness Center

Earlier this week, I received a tour of the new Idaho National Guard readiness center in Jerome, which was recently dedicated to honor a dear friend of mine and former Governor Dirk Kempthorne.

As a longtime supporter of this facility, I proudly secured $15 million in community project funding for the construction of the readiness center. This will soon become home to Idaho’s 145th Light Support Battalion.

Visiting Western States Cat

I had a great visit at Western States Cat in Boise. I am a strong supporter of trade education, and our state offers a wide variety of trade and apprenticeship opportunities.

One of the most important topics we covered was permitting reform. Permitting reform is one of the most consequential actions Congress and the Trump Administration can take to unleash American energy and drive down costs. The time is now to enact policies that streamline the permitting process!

Discussing Idaho’s Workforce

Earlier this week, I had an important discussion with Idahoans about the future of our state and its workforce. I will continue to support policies that benefit trade education, support our workforce, and create jobs.

It was a great opportunity to discuss the Securing America’s Workforce Act, a bipartisan bill I am proud to cosponsor, which would help ensure a stable and legal workforce for America’s dairy farmers.
