By Congressman Mike Simpson
Dear Friend,
I’m sure you’ve heard the news: the United States Supreme Court heard Idaho’s Fairness in Women’s Sports Act earlier this week. It was a tremendous week for Idaho in DC, and I was honored to stand alongside female athletes and some of the fiercest supporters of women’s sports outside of the Supreme Court. I could go on and on, but let me be clear: we stood in front of the Supreme Court defending the truth – that males should NOT compete against females in athletics.
I’m so proud of our great state. Idaho owes a debt of gratitude to those who have worked tirelessly to protect women’s sports. We have seen Idaho champions like State Representative Barbara Ehardt and Attorney General Raul Labrador fight for common sense.
While we’re on the topic of athletics, I also had the opportunity to sit down with Boise State’s Interim President and Athletic Director earlier this week. Speaking of Boise State, and as promised last week, I’d like to highlight another community funding project I fought for in the recently passed appropriations package. I secured funding for the Microelectronics Research and Education Project in Boise. I am proud to support this project, which addresses the needs of Boise State students, Idaho’s semiconductor industry, and workforce needs.
Protect Women’s Sports!
Idaho has led the way in protecting women’s sports by passing legislation banning men from participating in female athletics. Female athletes deserve our full support here. I was honored to defend this outside the Supreme Court earlier this week.
COMMON SENSE WILL PREVAIL. Thank you to the Idahoans who showed up for this monumental day!! Listen to my remarks outside the Supreme Court here.

Meeting with Boise State
This week, I met with Boise State University’s Interim President Shinn and Athletic Director Jeramiah Dickey.
We had a productive discussion about the current landscape and future of college athletics. As always, Go Broncos!

Bringing Tax Dollars Back to Idaho
Idaho is at the forefront of the semiconductor industry, and Boise State University is uniquely positioned to support this continued development through its outstanding science and engineering programs. However, Boise State faces challenges in rapidly expanding its research efforts to meet regional and national workforce needs. This funding is essential to prepare the next generation of the semiconductor workforce in Idaho.
I am proud to secure critical funding for our communities. You can read more about this project and community support here.
