NEWSLETTER: New updates, tools added to the Parental Choice Tax Credit website

By the Idaho State Tax Commission

The My School Choice website now offers updated FAQs and information about the Idaho Parental Choice Tax Credit program. The updates clarify details on eligibility requirements, expense tracking, and the advance payment. Additionally, the My School Choice website now includes a search tool and the option to view the site in different languages.

Eligibility Requirements

The Tax Commission has received many questions about the eligibility requirements for parents and their children when it comes to Idaho residency and filing taxes.

To apply for the program in January, all of these must be true:

  • You and your children must have been full-time residents of Idaho in 2024 and 2025.
  • You must have submitted an Idaho Form 40, Individual Income Tax Return, for 2024.
  • You must have listed your children as your dependents on the 2024 Idaho Form 40.

We’ve updated the Eligibility Checklist on the website to clarify that parents and students must be full-time Idaho residents in 2024 and 2025.
