OPINION: The Simpson Standard: May 18th, 2025

By Congressman Mike Simpson

Dear Friend,

This last week was National Police Week, a time to recognize, remember, and honor the brave men and women who serve our communities every day. We honor the sacrifice and commitment made by our law enforcement officers in Idaho and throughout America. God bless!

For four years, the American people saw an EPA with too much unchecked power under the Biden administration. After years of the EPA working for a political agenda, not an American one, this changed when President Trump stepped into the Oval Office. I appreciated having the opportunity to talk with EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin earlier this week as he testified before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies. Learn more about this hearing below.

It was great seeing Governor Little in our nation’s capital earlier this week! Thanks to Governor Little’s leadership, Idaho continues to set the standard for a model of success. Always great to catch up with the Governor!

Supporting Pro-Law Enforcement Bills for National Police Week

This week, I voted in favor of several critical pro-law enforcement bills, highlighting support for America’s brave men and women in blue. You can read more about these bills here.

Also, this week, my House Republican colleagues and I honored the 24,412 fallen law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Just over a year ago, Ada County Deputy Tobin Bolter lost his life in the line of duty. We will forever remember his commitment to serving and protecting our communities.

House Appropriations Hearing with EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin

With President Trump back in the White House and an exceptional new administration, we finally have an EPA that’s working for the American people.

It was great to welcome EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin earlier this week as he testified before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies. As Chairman of this subcommittee, I look forward to working together to advance policies that deliver real results for Americans.

Great Seeing Governor Little!

From reinforcing President Trump’s immigration policies and defending female athletes to increasing INL’s national leadership and cutting red tape, Idaho continues to lead the way.

As Governor Little has said, what Idaho is doing is working! It was great to see my good friend in DC. Keep up the good work, Gov!
