The Senate passed H538 during their last day this week. It awaits the governor’s signature.

Friday, 3/29/24:

Sen. Chris Trakel presented H538 in Senate State Affairs this morning. Sens. Winder, Anthon, Harris, Guthrie, and Toews voted to send it to the floor, while Lee, Bernt, Wintrow, and Shea (substituting for Sen. Ruchti) voted against. It passed 5-4 and should be on the floor next week.

Friday, 3/15/24:

Rep. Hill presented H538 on the floor this morning. Several Democrats debated against, and it passed on a party line vote.

Friday, 2/16/24:

Idaho Freedom Foundation has rated this bill +2.

Rep. Hill presented H538 in House State Affairs this morning. Several transgender activists testified against the bill, while conservatives testified in favor. Review my live thread here. The committee voted to send the bill to the floor with a do pass recommendation, with only Rep. John Gannon voting against.

Tuesday, 2/13/24:

Rep. Ted Hill introduced RS 31275 in House State Affairs last Friday. This would prohibit government agencies from forcing anyone to use alternate pronouns. The committee voted to introduce the bill and it was printed at H538. It awaits a hearing.
