OSMEC coordinates responsible energy, mineral, and species stewardship through collaboration, planning, and innovation to strengthen Idaho’s economy, conserve natural resources, protect heritage, and serve future generations. Two bills in the 2026 legislative session merged the Office of Species Conservation, the Office of Energy and Mineral Resources, and the State Historic Preservation Officer into OSMEC.
