NEWSLETTER: The Simpson Standard: January 25th, 2026

By Congressman Mike Simpson

Dear Friend,

January has been a very productive month in DC. The House has hit the ground running! We have completed our Fiscal Year 2026 work by passing all twelve full-year funding bills across the House floor. I mentioned a few weeks ago that the House passed my Fiscal Year 2026 Interior and Environment Appropriations Bill. I was honored to join President Donald Trump at the White House as he signed this measure into law this week.

Finishing our Fiscal Year 2026 work included the House passing four more bipartisan bills that deliver transparency, reduce overall spending, and avoid a rushed, bloated omnibus. I am thrilled to announce that this week’s package included four more community funding projects that I proudly fought for. I will always work to bring money back to our Idaho communities.

On that note, I’m excited to highlight funding for the Idaho Accelerator Center Upgrades Project in Pocatello. Additionally, I had a great meeting earlier this week with United States Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins. We had a productive conversation regarding supporting America’s sugarbeet farmers.

In case you missed it: This week, I wrote an op-ed in the Washington Reporter in response to the agitators nationwide defending convicted criminal illegal aliens. You can read the full op-ed below.

President Trump Signed My Bill Into Law!

It was an honor to be invited to the White House to witness President Trump sign my legislation, along with two other fiscally responsible appropriations bills, into law.

I am proud to have produced a bill that champions Idaho wins, like prioritizing funding for Indian Country and Wildland Fire Management, and importantly, protects America’s public lands. Thank you to the President and his administration for the support.

Bringing Tax Dollars Back to Idaho

Idaho State University and its researchers are building a remarkable capability to produce medical isotopes at the Idaho Accelerator Center. The University addresses a long-term demand, positioning Pocatello as a national hub for this critical medical technology. As a longtime supporter of the Idaho Accelerator Center, I have been proud to secure funding for this facility throughout my time in Congress.

I am pleased this year’s funding will continue to help the center meet our nation’s demand for medical isotopes and significantly advance nuclear research. You can read more about this project and community support here.

Meeting with Secretary Rollins

I was thankful to have the opportunity to express how critical Idaho’s sugarbeet growers are to our state’s economy. They create thousands of jobs and are essential to Idaho agriculture.

Idahoans are grateful to have an administration that is prioritizing the SWEETNESS of American agriculture.

Standing with Our Brave ICE Officers

President Donald Trump has been in office for a little over a year, and our nation is experiencing record-low border crossings, violent crime is down, and the flow of deadly drugs into our communities is slowing. These statistics are primarily due to effective policies that have led to the most secure border in United States history, and are a direct result of the deportation of the worst-of-the-worst criminal illegal aliens.

I support DHS and ICE arresting and deporting the worst of the worst. The full op-ed is available here.
