By Congressman Mike Simpson
Dear Friend,
Happy Father’s Day to all the incredible dads out there! My team and I had a great week out in Idaho’s Second District. We had a few meetings in eastern Idaho to kick off the week, and ended our work period in Boise.
I always enjoy meeting with Idahoans and hearing firsthand what they want to see come out of DC. Driving across the district and holding meetings like these allows me to make critical decisions about community project funding and gives Idahoans a voice in determining where budgeted funds go. Over the last several weeks, I’ve been thrilled to share some of the projects I’ve advanced funding for this year. The trend continues! Learn more about the Milner Dam Rehabilitation Project below.
I visited with our great Idaho Secretary of State, Phil McGrane, while in Boise. We had a productive conversation, and I applaud all his hard work here in Idaho! I also enjoyed sitting down with Neal and Julie on the Neal Larson Show and then again with Matt Todd, host of the Ranch Podcast, to discuss some of the work I’m doing in Congress and the news driving the day.
Advancing Funding for the Milner Dam Rehabilitation Project
I’ve spoken to mayors, county commissioners, state elected officials, and countless others who all agree that the Milner Dam is one of the most important water control structures in southern Idaho. During this critical time for water in our state, repairing and rehabilitating Milner Dam is of utmost importance for several southeastern Idaho rural communities.
Advancing this funding will benefit 500,000 acres of irrigated farmland, support local residents and jobs, and ensure that future generations have access to safe drinking water. You can learn more about this project and community support here.

Great Visiting Secretary of State McGrane
It was great visiting Secretary McGrane while in Boise and chatting about the 2026 Blue Book of Idaho.
I’m excited to read through Idaho’s new book and see our great state’s history and culture highlights!

Discussing Current Events
I enjoyed joining the Neal Larson Show and the Ranch Podcast earlier this week.
We had great conversations about the difference between mandatory and discretionary spending, keeping Washington D.C. beautiful, what to expect with this year’s appropriations process, and even touched on the latest news regarding Iran.
