WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho) thanked interns for serving in his Washington, D.C. office during the fall 2025 term. While in their roles, interns learned about policymaking at the federal level and assisted in the daily operations of the office.
“Senate internships offer firsthand experience in public policy and the legislative process to the next generation of Idaho’s leaders,” said Risch. “I applaud this group for the great work they did to serve Idaho.”
Senator Risch’s Washington, D.C. Interns:
Maggie Hunter, daughter of Bob and Kathryn Hunter, is from Boise. Maggie is a senior majoring in International Studies at the University of Idaho. Outside of her studies, Maggie enjoys hiking, backpacking, rafting, and writing.
Sydney Dean, daughter of Travis and Sarah Dean, is from Rigby. Sydney is a senior at Brigham Young University-Idaho studying Public Policy and Administration. When she is not at work, Sydney spends her time playing the violin and reading.
Lauren Davies, daughter of Mike and Angie Davies, is from Eagle. A sophomore studying Communications, Legal Studies, Economics, and Government at American University in Washington D.C. In her free time, Lauren enjoys going to concerts and hiking.
Porter Abplanalp, son of Amos and Hillary Abplanalp, is from San Tan Valley, Arizona. Porter is a senior studying Political Science and American Government at Brigham Young University-Idaho. In his free time, Porter enjoys watching films and listening to music.
