By Congressman Mike Simpson
Dear Friend,
Farmers in Idaho and nationwide received great news earlier this week when President Trump announced $12 billion in aid for American farmers. This administration is standing with America’s farmers by working to rebuild the farm economy and provide relief from years of the Biden administration’s failed policies.
Also, this week, I enjoyed having the opportunity to visit and tour the Idaho National Laboratory with Department of Energy Secretary Chris Wright before returning to DC. I may be biased, but as Secretary Wright wrapped up his visits to all 17 Department of Energy National Laboratories, I believe he saved the best for last!
Last but not least, it was a great week for Idaho communities on the House floor. As a longtime supporter of the Secure Rural Schools Program, I was thrilled to see the Secure Rural Schools Reauthorization Act pass the House and head to President Trump’s desk. Nearly two-thirds of Idaho is public land, which means a vast majority of rural counties throughout the state depend on the SRS Program.
Additionally, passing the National Defense Authorization Act is critical for America’s national defense and our brave servicemembers’ quality of life. Idaho is home to Gowen Field and Mountain Home Air Force Base, hosting thousands of our service members. I will always support our service members – especially those stationed in Idaho. Visiting INL with Secretary Wright
MAKE NUCLEAR GREAT AGAIN! 🗣
It was an honor to visit INL with Secretary Wright and discuss the important work happening at America’s lead nuclear lab. I appreciate his and the Trump administration’s strong support for nuclear energy and the work being done to promote American energy dominance!

Advocating for an SRS Solution
This week, the House passed an effort to fix Secure Rural Schools (SRS) payment allocations. Renewing this critical program will ensure a vital source of funding for Idaho counties and help pay for essential rural community services. I look forward to seeing this lifeline benefit local communities throughout Idaho for schools and infrastructure projects.
I was proud to fight for this Idaho funding alongside Congressman Fulcher to reaffirm support for the program and its importance to Idahoans. You can read more about this critical legislation here.

Supporting President Trump’s Peace through Strength Policies in NDAA
Passing the National Defense Authorization Act means that we are one step closer to beginning to deliver results for American troops and their families.
The NDAA is a must-pass bill that promotes peace through strength policies, supports our men and women in uniform, and strengthens our national defense. Read more about this critical bill here.
