BOISE, ID – (November 24, 2025) – The Idaho Freedom Foundation (IFF) today announced it will host a press conference to present a comprehensive Conservative Budget Plan designed to bring unprecedented efficiency and accountability to the Idaho state government.
Idaho’s state leadership has failed to control spending and manage the budget, leading the state toward a projected deficit of around $100 million in the current fiscal year based on preliminary data. This fiscal crisis demands an immediate end to reckless spending and a return to fiscal discipline — a task the IFF is prepared to lead.
The event will outline specific, data-driven spending cuts and fiscal measures intended for consideration by the 2026 Idaho Legislature, with the ultimate goal of restoring the proper, limited role of government and delivering significant financial relief to Idaho families.
IFF President Ron Nate and budget policy experts Fred Birnbaum and Brett Farruggia will present a detailed plan outlining precise amounts and recommended cuts to achieve necessary efficiency. The proposal focuses on achieving major legislative wins for Idahoans, including income and sales tax cuts, a roadmap to eliminate the property tax, the elimination of unconstitutional and unnecessary bureaucratic agencies and commissions, and the repeal of Medicaid expansion.
The press conference is an opportunity for the media and the public to hear directly how the Idaho Freedom Foundation plans to lead the effort to rein in government spending and secure a more prosperous future for Idaho families and businesses.
The press conference will take place on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 1:30pm MT in the second-floor rotunda of the Idaho State Capitol Building. Members of the media and the public are strongly encouraged to attend.
