NEWSLETTER: Labrador Letter: Thanksgiving Gratitude

By Attorney General Raúl Labrador

Dear Friends,

Tomorrow, families across Idaho will gather around tables filled with more than food. We will share stories, laugh at old jokes, and create new memories. But I know that for some of you, this Thanksgiving is different. Maybe there will be an empty chair where someone you love used to sit. Maybe you are far from home, or home doesn’t feel the same as it once did. If that is you, please know you’re not forgotten.

I’m grateful for the farmers who rise before dawn to feed our communities. For parents who work two jobs so their children can have opportunities they never had. For our police officers who risk their lives to keep our neighborhoods safe, and grandparents who pass down wisdom along with family traditions. These people don’t just make Idaho families stronger; they show us what it means to sacrifice for something bigger than ourselves.

Their example reminds me of the pioneers who crossed impossible terrain to build new lives in this rugged place. They understood that the blessings they fought for weren’t just for them. They were building something for their children and their children’s children. They knew that every generation must earn the right to pass on what matters most.

We’re blessed to live in a state where families can still raise their children according to their values. Where your word means something and your neighbor knows they can count on you. Where freedom isn’t just a word in a history book, it’s something that we live every day. But those blessings don’t preserve themselves. Each generation must choose to fight for what previous generations earned through sacrifice.

Around your table tomorrow, you’ll likely see the faces of those who make it all worthwhile. Children who are counting on us to preserve what we’ve been given. Parents and grandparents who sacrificed so we could be here. These are the people we’re fighting for when we defend Idaho’s laws, protect parental rights, and stand up to federal overreach.

As we reflect in gratitude tomorrow, let’s also lift our hearts in commitment. Grateful for what we’ve been given. Determined to protect it for those who come after us. Ready to do whatever it takes so that future generations of Idaho families have even more reasons to be thankful.

I hope your Thanksgiving is filled with the warmth of family, the comfort of tradition, and the confidence that comes from knowing we’re building something that will last.

Best regards,
