As recently reported by The Hill, Daily Caller, Politico, and other national outlets, the ILA has revived the “Trump Score,” a concept originally popularized by ABC’s now-defunct FiveThirtyEight data project. The system measures how closely members of Congress align with President Trump’s policy positions. Additionally, the ILA maintains the Idaho GOP Platform Rating System, which for the third consecutive year has graded lawmaker allignment to the state platform they pledged to abide.
“We are proud to recognize 41 Idaho lawmakers with the Standard-Bearer Award for their consistent support of the positions of both President Trump and the Idaho Republican Party in their voting records. Since the introduction of the IDGOP Platform Ratings three years ago, we’ve seen a significant increase in lawmakers aligning their votes with conservative principles. Most encouragingly, the data shows far fewer instances of philosophically Democratic candidates winning office by falsely presenting themselves as Republicans. These positive trends are translating into real policy victories in the legislature that benefit all Idahoans.” – Ryan McGowan, CEO of the Institute for Legislative Analysis.
