By Cong. Mike Simpson
Dear Friend,
From Heyburn to Twin Falls to Mountain Home, it was another fantastic week in Idaho’s Second District, being on the ground with Idahoans.
Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to meet with United Electric employees and discuss some of the highlights of the One Big Beautiful Bill. President Trump promised to reverse the anti-energy Biden-era policies that sent prices soaring across the nation. I appreciated hearing about United Electric’s dedication and commitment to Idaho’s rural communities.
I also had a productive visit to Mountain Home Air Force Base, which includes the Mountain Home School District. I recently highlighted the inclusion of funding for the Stephensen Elementary School Build Project in Mountain Home, at my request, through Community Project Funding. You can read more about my visit and this project below.
Meeting with United Electric Employees
United Electric provides safe, reliable power in Idaho communities. Make no mistake, dependable and affordable energy is critical for our national security.
As Republicans work to incentivize the buildout of reliable baseload power sources, I’m proud that the One Big Beautiful Bill will unlock America’s full energy potential and bring down costs for American families.

Visiting Mountain Home Air Force Base
Idaho is home to Mountain Home Air Force Base, hosting thousands of our servicemembers and their families. Supporting our military families is one of my top priorities in Congress. I was honored to visit Mountain Home Air Force Base and meet with our brave servicemembers and Stephensen Elementary School students.
I recently advanced funding to build a new elementary school at the base. By supporting our military children, their families, and the broader Mountain Home community, this project underscores our commitment and promise to those who serve. You can read more about this Community Funding Project here.

Joining Forterra in Idaho’s Second District
Lastly, I appreciated the opportunity to join Forterra and see some of their autonomous vehicles here in Idaho’s Second District.
Their work provides autonomous national security solutions for the Department of Defense, helping meet the needs of today’s defense landscape. Thank you again for having me!
