By Sen. Jim Risch
The greatest threat to America’s future is our skyrocketing national debt.
For the first time in history, America will spend more on the interest for our debt than national defense. This has got to stop.
The federal government’s number one obligation is to defend this country, not to borrow money.
Last month, I joined KBOI Radio in Boise to discuss my efforts to stop wasteful spending and achieve President Trump’s America First agenda.
The bottom line: we must get federal spending under control. No excuses.
As your Senator, I have consistently voted against debt ceiling increases and bloated spending bills that squander billions of taxpayer dollars on unconstitutional programs and bureaucrat boondoggles.
The federal government needs to realize that it doesn’t have a no-limit credit card capable of funding every special-interest program.
Like hardworking Idahoans, Congress must make tough choices, cut costs, and live within its means.
Our nation cannot afford to keep kicking the can down the road. We must reduce the national debt and protect the future prosperity of our children and grandchildren.
I’m working to rein in D.C.’s chronic spending problem and pay down debt, all while securing President Trump’s America First agenda. Let’s get it done.
