EDITORIAL: The Simpson Standard

By Congressman Mike Simpson

April 20th, 2025

Happy Easter! Kathy and I wish you and yours a happy and peaceful Easter Sunday.

From Idaho Falls to Boise, it was a productive week in Idaho’s Second District. I was thrilled to attend the groundbreaking for the Aalo-X Reactor at the Idaho National Laboratory and celebrate Idaho students at the Congressional Art Competition ceremony.

I was also pleased to attend the ribbon cutting of the Idaho Air National Guard Medical Training Facility—a project I am proud to have secured funding for. As Idaho’s only appropriator, I have a unique opportunity to advocate for our state’s priorities and ensure that Idahoans’ hard-earned tax dollars return to our communities. With my position on the House Appropriations Committee, I have been proud to fight for meaningful projects that benefit Idahoans.

Happy Easter!

2025 Congressional Art Competition

Please join me in congratulating Seoyoon Song from Bishop Kelly High School on winning the 2025 Congressional Art Contest for Idaho’s 2nd Congressional District. Seoyoon’s artwork will represent our district while on display in the United States Capitol Building.

We are thrilled by the participation and talent in this year’s Congressional Art Competition. And a big thank you to everyone who submitted their work!

Ribbon Cutting for the Idaho Air National Guard Medical Training Facility

Investing in resources for our National Guard is investing in America’s future and prosperity. I’m proud to have secured funding for this incredible onsite medical training and readiness facility through Community Project Funding.

The brave men and women of the Idaho National Guard deserve the best resources available, and I hope this new facility helps them reach even greater heights in their mission and service.
