This legislation safeguards freedom of speech and public participation by swiftly dismissing meritless Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPPs), ensuring public engagement and expression on matters of societal or community interest not stifled by legal intimidation.

LATEST NEWS:
1/27/25: Sen. Lenney presented S1001 on the Senate floor, where it passed with only one “no” vote.

1/22/25: Sen. Lenney presented S1001 to the Senate Jud & Rules Committee this afternoon. After some positive testimony, the committee voted to send the bill to the floor with a “do pass” recommendation.
1/13/25: Sen. Lenney introduced his anti-SLAPP bill once again. It was defeated on the Senate floor because, according to Lenney, certain senators did not want him to get a win.
