Last week, in the midst of a busy news period, Idaho Dept. of Health and Welfare (IDHW) director Alex Adams issued a bulletin ordering staff to prepare a report showing which entitlement programs are mandated by state law, which fall under federal law, and which are under neither.
The upcoming report, due in March of 2025, will evaluate each program to learn where and how it was mandated and what discretion the State of Idaho has in altering eligibility thresholds, benefits, and work requirements.
This is another step toward transparency and reform within Idaho’s largest state agency.
