SATURDAY ROUNDUP: 4/20/24

Happy weekend, friends. I just got back from speaking to the Snake River Republican Women over in Payette, encouraging them to continue getting involved in local and party politics because that is where you can make a difference. This evening I’ll be speaking at the Valley County Lincoln Day Dinner in Cascade. Join us if you can!

This week at the Chronicle…

On Sunday, I wrote an article about the fine line between war and peace, and how we should be careful about being too hungry for war. At the time, Iran had responded to Israel’s attack on its consulate in Damascus with a drone attack, and I hoped that Israel would be careful to avoid major escalation. A few nights ago Israel responded with a missile attack, but it appears that like the drone attack it was limited and not intended to cause significant damage. Pray for peace!

On Monday, I took a look at the Main Street Caucus. Its members present themselves as moderate centrist conservatives, but their voting record demonstrates that they make up the left wing of the Idaho Republican Party.

On Wednesday, I highlighted a little-known bill that passed the Legislature this year that aims to claw some power back from the unelected bureaucrats that run our government.

On Thursday, I put out a call for interviews at the Gem State Chronicle. I am sending personal invitations to every declared candidate for the Legislature, and hope to have great conversations no matter how much we agree or disagree. This will be my primary project between now and the primary on May 21, so watch for those to start appearing soon.

Finally, yesterday I took a closer look at Idaho Chooses Life, an anti-abortion organization that has done some good work, but has also used donor money to attack pro-life conservatives who aren’t entirely on board with its agenda and recently donated the max to a lawmaker who voted against banning child gender mutilation.

In other news…

Christopher Rufo has done some fantastic work in fighting back against leftist control of our institutions. Curtis Yarvin, who used to write under the pseudonym Mencius Moldbug, essentially created the vocabulary for the current conservative movement. The two recently had a debate at IM1776, and Auron MacIntyre streamed a summary of the debate and their positions that is worth watching:

Idaho’s own Dr. Scott Yenor recently spoke to the Boise State University chapter of TPUSA about how “compulsory feminism” has altered the relationships between men and women, employers and employees, and the government with citizens:

Fellow Freedom Bro Greg Pruett recently debuted a new series on Rumble trying to figure out if various organizations are leftist or liberty. Check out episode 1 here.

Speaking of Freedom Bros, I joined Thursday’s episode late after attending some candidate forums in Caldwell. I missed the talk with Senate candidate Christy Zito but we did discuss some recent news, and viewers got a sneak peek at my new studio setup:

Finally, Tucker Carlson joined Joe Rogan this week for discussion about topics from aliens to Richard Nixon. It’s worth listening to two intelligent people with a lot of questions about the world:
