The first round of the budget showdown went to the reformers, with the House passing H457, the maintenance budget for the judicial branch, 38-31-1. That leaves four budgets on the House floor and five more in the Senate, with the replacements passed during Friday’s coup moving through the system as well.
It might seem silly to pay so much attention to a budgetary fight, but it really is a big deal. Our government is growing by leaps and bounds, and this really is an opportunity to constrain that growth and fulfill the promises of fiscal conservatism.
