Senate Joint Memorial 102: Immigration Reform

Tuesday, 4/2/24:

SJM 102 passed the House overwhelmingly last week. As a joint memorial it does not need to be signed by the governor, so it has been adopted.

Friday, 3/8/24:

SJM 102 passed out of committee this week and sits on the 3rd reading calendar in the House.

Tuesday, 2/20/24:

After nearly an hour of debate this morning, SJM102 was adopted by the Senate 30-4-1. Several senators debated against the memorial but voted in favor.

Monday, 2/19/24:

Sen. Jim Guthrie introduced Senate Joint Memorial 102 in Senate State Affairs back on Friday, February 9. This memorial calls on the federal government to reform and streamline the immigration system so as to provide workers for Idaho businesses, especially in the agricultural sector. This is similar to a memorial that passed the Senate last year, but did not receive a hearing in the House, however a paragraph calling for a path to citizenship for illegal aliens was removed.

SJM102 was introduced and printed, but has thus far been held in the Senate 10th Order, awaiting committee assignment.
