Sen. Scott Herndon introduced RS 30902 in Senate State Affairs on Friday morning. This bill would require campaigns and political action committees to report all donations, even those under $50. Currently, the Secretary of State’s reporting system allows donations under that threshold to be aggregated without identifying donor names and addresses.
In his introduction of the bill, Sen. Herndon pointed out that Idaho Code 67-6614 requires that all campaign donations be identified, no matter how small, but the new reporting system unveiled by the Secretary of State’s office requires campaigns to aggregate donations under $50, based on the wording of Idaho Code 67-6607. This bill would eliminate language in 6607 about aggregating donations of $50 or less, bringing the two parts of code into alignment with each other.
