The Idaho State Treasurer is the state’s chief financial manager, responsible for the custody and investment of state funds. The Treasurer oversees the management of Idaho’s short-term and long-term investments, ensuring the security and growth of public funds. Additionally, the Treasurer manages the state’s debt, including issuing bonds and monitoring repayment schedules, and administers programs such as unclaimed property and college savings plans. The Treasurer also serves on several boards, including the Idaho Endowment Fund Investment Board and the State Board of Land Commissioners, contributing to the stewardship of state resources.

Julie Ellsworth

Julie Ellsworth was elected Idaho’s 24th State Treasurer in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. She served twelve years in the Idaho House of Representatives, where she worked on legislation related to health insurance and Medicaid fraud recovery. Since taking office in 2019, she has focused on the operations of the Treasurer’s Office, financial oversight, and constituent services. Ellsworth serves on several boards and participates in national advocacy efforts. She is a lifelong Idaho resident and emphasizes a pro-family approach in her work.
