OFFICE OF THE STATE CONTROLLER
The Idaho State Controller serves as the state’s chief financial officer, overseeing accounting, payroll, and financial reporting for all state agencies. The Controller manages the disbursement of state funds, maintains comprehensive records of state finances, and ensures transparency by publishing financial reports. Additionally, the Controller operates the statewide accounting and payroll systems, processes payments for state employees, and serves on the State Board of Examiners, which reviews and approves claims against the state.
Brandon Woolf
Controller
Brandon D. Woolf has served as Idaho’s State Controller since 2012, when he was appointed to complete his predecessor’s term and later elected in 2014, 2018, and 2022. A Preston native, he holds a political science degree from Utah State University and an MBA from Boise State. As State Controller, he oversees statewide accounting, payroll, and data center operations. He also serves on several boards, including the Land Board and Board of Examiners. His tenure has focused on transparency, IT consolidation, and modernizing state financial systems.
