EXECUTIVE BRANCH

The Executive Branch of Idaho’s government is led by seven elected constitutional officers, each with distinct responsibilities that affect the daily lives of Idahoans. From administering elections to managing state finances, these leaders play vital roles in shaping our state’s future. Beneath them are 20 executive departments and a host of agencies and divisions that carry out the laws and programs of state government.

Governor

Brad Little

Heads the executive branch; signs or vetoes legislation, sets the state budget, and commands the Idaho National Guard.

Lt. Governor

Scott Bedke

Presides over the Senate and serves as acting governor when the governor is out of state or unable to serve.

Secretary of State

Phil McGrane

Oversees elections, business registrations, and lobbyist and campaign finance disclosures.

Controller

Brandon Woolf

Manages the state’s accounting, payroll, and financial reporting systems.

Treasurer

Julie Ellsworth

Manages state funds, investments, and unclaimed property.

Attorney General

Raúl Labrador

Idaho’s chief legal officer; represents the state in litigation and issues legal opinions.

Superintendent of Public Instruction

Debbie Critchfield

Oversees Idaho’s K-12 public education system and the State Department of Education.
