WASHINGTON—This National Police Week, Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson voted in favor of several critical pieces of pro-law-enforcement legislation that highlight support for America’s brave men and women in blue.
“Supporting our brave law enforcement has always been one of my top priorities in Congress,” said Rep. Simpson. “In times of emergencies, the men and women in blue respond. It is vital that they have the resources necessary to perform their jobs safely and efficiently. My House Republican colleagues and I are committed to ensuring this support. I will always stand behind our law enforcement and support efforts to defend these brave individuals, not defund.”
The National Police Week of 2026 legislation includes:
- H.Con. Res. 96 – Expressing Support for Law Enforcement Officers. This resolution reaffirms support for the law enforcement officers who protect American communities and recognizes their sacrifice.
- H.Res. 1252 – A resolution memorializing law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
- H.R. 6260 – Keeping Violent Offenders Off Our Streets Act. This bill regulates bail funds and targets abuse of bail funds.
- H.R. 5625 – Cashless Bail Reporting Act. This bill exposes cashless bail jurisdictions by requiring the Attorney General to publish a public list of places that allow certain serious offenders to be released without cash bail.
- H.R. 8365 – Monitor Accountability Act. This bill creates rules for court-appointed monitors overseeing state and local governments.
