By Idaho GOP Chairwoman Dorothy Moon
We’ve been here before.
Less than four weeks before an election that could change the course of our nation’s future, all the talking heads are telling you to give up. It’s over, they say. Democrats will win the House, and probably the Senate too. President Trump will be impeached, and the MAGA agenda is dead.
Remember when the same talking heads told us that Donald Trump had zero chance of defeating Hillary Clinton in 2016? Or that Kamala Harris and her coconut trees were sure to win the White House in 2024?
I want to remind you that polls don’t matter. Prediction markets don’t matter. Opinions from analysts and commentators on TV don’t matter. The only thing that matters is voters casting ballots.
That means you!
I’m sure you’ve grown tired of pundits calling the next election the most important in history. But there’s a certain truth to it. Each election has the potential to shape everything that comes after and change the world that your children and grandchildren will inherit.
Imagine where we would be if Hillary Clinton had won in 2016, or Kamala Harris in 2024. Open borders, skyrocketing inflation, and almost certainly an Orwellian crackdown on free speech like we’ve seen in Britain these past few years.
We avoided that future because you bothered to vote.
Midterm elections are no less important. Right now, Sen. Jim Risch is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and has an open door to the President of the United States. As part of a Republican majority, he helps confirm President Trump’s executive and judicial appointees.
A Democratic Senate would shut that down on Day 1.
The same thing goes for the House. Congressmen Mike Simpson and Russ Fulcher have tremendous influence, and under the leadership of Speaker Mike Johnson, they have passed every good bill on the table and made sure to fully fund President Trump’s agenda. A Democratic House would not only put a stop to that, but would launch endless partisan witch hunts instead.
Under the leadership of Gov. Brad Little, Attorney General Raúl Labrador, and the rest of our Republican elected officials, Idaho has prospered economically—with low unemployment and high wages—and become a place where traditional values are cherished, not denigrated. Republican leadership in Idaho has cut taxes, cut regulations, protected women’s sports and spaces, and defended unborn life.
That’s ultimately due to you—the Republican voter who takes your civic responsibility seriously. Voting is not just about choosing one candidate or another, or deciding which propositions to approve and which to reject. Voting is an expression of hope for the future of our state and our nation.
I don’t care whether you vote early, absentee, or on Election Day, so long as you vote. Our future depends on you!
