MOON: Four Districts, One Clear Choice

By Idaho GOP Chairwoman Dorothy Moon

Every two years, Idaho voters choose who will represent them in the Legislature. That choice is especially consequential in our state’s most competitive districts.

Voters in Moscow, west Boise, Pocatello, and Sun Valley will decide whether to continue on the path of faith, family, and freedom or take a detour toward division, destruction, and socialism.

District 6 has had reliable Republican representation for several years with Sen. Dan Foreman and Rep. Brandon Mitchell. Joining them on the ballot this year is Colton Bennett, a young father and veteran with a gift for speaking the truth clearly and coherently. Opposing them are the usual Democratic candidates, promising higher taxes, more regulation, and more restrictions on your right to self-defense. At a forum last week, Colton’s opponent, Trish Carter-Goodheart, couldn’t even answer a question about whether she supports breaching the Snake River dams. She got up and walked out the door rather than explain her position!

District 15 is a real battleground on the edge of Boise. Rep. Dori Healey brings a unique perspective as the only healthcare professional in the Legislature, and she’s joined on the ballot by Desi Burbank and Steve Keyser. Keyser’s opponent, Rep. Steve Berch, talks a good game on the campaign trail, but when he gets to the Capitol, he’s a bog-standard Democrat who spends his time debating against common-sense legislation.

District 26 covers Blaine, Jerome, and Lincoln counties and includes the second or third homes of some of our nation’s wealthiest left-wing megadonors. But Rep. Mike Pohanka, along with Bryan Hyde and Lyle Johnstone, makes a strong case that the people of the district deserve real representation, not token Democrats who raise a lot of money but have little to show for it.

Finally, District 29 in Pocatello is another place where just a few votes can make a big difference. Rep. Dustin Manwaring has represented his constituents well for many years, and sending him back to the Capitol with Jennifer Miles and John Crowder by his side will give Pocatello voters a strong voice at the table.

The truth is, Democrats don’t represent the hardworking people of Idaho, for whom faith is real, family is important, and freedom is more than just a buzzword. If they ever had real power in our state, they would take us down the same destructive path as California, Colorado, or Illinois. Democrats in Idaho don’t take their marching orders from the voters, but from Gavin Newsom, AOC, and Hasan Piker.

Absentee ballots are in the mail, and early voting has already started in much of the state. Make a plan to vote, and then vote for men and women who represent you and your values, not those of California or New York. Let’s stay the course and keep Idaho the greatest state in the nation.
