Boise, Idaho — Idaho Republican Party Chair Dorothy Moon today officially announced her candidacy for a third term as chair of the Idaho Republican Party ahead of the 2026 Idaho GOP State Convention, to be held June 18–20 in Meridian.

Moon, who was first elected chair in 2022 and reelected in 2024, said she is seeking one more term to continue strengthening the Idaho GOP organization, defending conservative principles, and supporting Republican victories across the state.

“It has been an honor to serve Idaho Republicans during a time of tremendous growth and energy within our party,” Moon said. “Together, we have worked to keep Idaho the conservative leader of the nation, defend election integrity, support our county parties and grassroots volunteers, and elect Republicans who stand firmly for the values of faith, family, freedom, and limited government.”

Under Moon’s leadership, the Idaho GOP expanded grassroots engagement, increased volunteer participation, strengthened county party coordination, and played a major role in Republican electoral successes throughout the state, including defeating the ranked-choice voting initiative in 2024.

Moon emphasized the importance of party unity heading into the 2026 election cycle, especially in opposing the radical pro-abortion initiative expected to appear on the November ballot.

“Idaho Republicans share a common commitment to protecting our state from the failed policies we see spreading across the country,” she said. “Now is the time to continue building a strong, unified organization capable of winning elections, protecting our most vulnerable, and preserving Idaho’s unique way of life for future generations.”

Delegates representing Republicans from throughout Idaho will gather in Meridian this June to conduct party business and elect party leadership.

“I remain deeply grateful to the delegates, county leaders, volunteers, and Republican voters who have placed their trust in me,” Moon said. “With support from my husband and family, I look forward to serving the people of Idaho and continuing the work we have started.”
