By Idaho GOP Chairwoman Dorothy Moon
This Friday and Saturday, Republicans from all over Idaho will gather in Meridian for the 2026 Winter Meeting. Members of our State Central Committee will vote on new rules and resolutions, recognize those who have given of themselves to the party and our state, remember those we lost in the past year, and enjoy a time of fellowship ahead of the legislative session.
As I often remind people, the Idaho GOP is fundamentally a grassroots organization. The rules that govern our party are proposed by precinct committeemen elected by voters to represent their neighborhoods. These proposals are carried forward by district and county chairs or county representatives, and if approved by the State Central Committee, they go into effect.
Resolutions, too, often begin as ideas from precinct committeemen or regular citizens. Their purpose is to make a unified statement as a party. They are especially important for legislators to understand what the Idaho GOP grassroots want to see in the upcoming session. I will present the slate of resolutions adopted by the State Central Committee next Monday at 11:00 a.m. MT in the Lincoln Auditorium at the Capitol.
This year, the Idaho GOP will consider resolutions addressing issues such as consolidating elections into even-numbered years, prohibiting the use of Sharia law in Idaho, preventing universities from becoming gun-free zones, calling on the Legislature to cut spending, and, of course, honoring the memory of Charlie Kirk.
You can read the list of proposed rules and resolutions yourself at idgop.org.
Handing out the Idaho GOP Hall of Fame Awards is one of my great honors as chair. These awards recognize Republican volunteers, officers, and elected officials who have made a difference over the past year. While I can’t yet share who will be recognized on Saturday, I can say that each honoree has gone above and beyond in giving their time, money, and energy in devotion to the cause of faith, family, and freedom in Idaho.
Even if you’re not a Republican officer or precinct committeeman, you are still invited to attend. Please be sure to register at idgop.org so we know who’s coming. You can also purchase tickets for the 2026 Winter Western Gala, which will take place at 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the Courtyard Marriott in Meridian. More details are available—you guessed it—on our website.
In addition to our regular business, attendees will hear from speakers on managing Lincoln Day finances, engaging young people in politics, and a special presentation on election integrity from the RNC.
I look forward to welcoming Republicans from across our great state this weekend. It will be a time of strong fellowship, thoughtful discussion, and a good time together to start the year off right.
