U.S. tax dollars should not be in the hands of terrorists. Yesterday, I spoke on the Senate floor demanding immediate passage of the No Tax Dollars for Terrorists Act to defund the Taliban.
Idahoans deserve to know that not one of their hard-earned tax dollars is going to fund this heinous organization.
It’s outrageous that Democrats blocked this important legislation, preventing it from reaching President Trump’s desk and becoming law.
Over 2,000 Americans were killed in Afghanistan and more than 20,000 were wounded fighting the Taliban. It is a slap in the face to these veterans and their families that any of our taxpayer dollars would flow to this organization that seeks to harm us.
The Taliban and other terrorist groups in Afghanistan try to erase women and girls from society. Christians and other minority groups face constant threats, including torture, kidnapping, and murder.
President Trump has cut off aid to Afghanistan in an attempt to stop money flowing to the Taliban, but the Senate must pass this important legislation to permanently keep funds out of terrorists’ hands.
I fully support efforts to defund the Taliban and will continue to work in my committee to make this bill law.
