RISCH: Honoring Idaho’s Veterans Today and Every Day

By Sen. Jim Risch

This month, I had the honor of meeting some of Idaho’s outstanding veterans and celebrating our veteran-owned small businesses.

Service, patriotism, and freedom are woven into the very fabric of our Gem State.

With over 100,000 veterans and thousands of service members in the Idaho National Guard and at Mountain Home Air Force Base, these courageous men and women are central to our communities.

On Veterans Day, I had the privilege of speaking at the University of Idaho’s annual Veterans Appreciation Dinner. As I looked at the crowd of 600 active-duty service members, veterans, families, and local leaders, I was humbled by their unparalleled bravery and sacrifice.

Many Idaho veterans have continued their service as small business owners. These veteran-owned businesses are vital to the Gem State and represent the best of who we are as Americans—mission-driven and dedicated to success.

I was proud to recognize seven of Idaho’s veteran-owned small businesses this month for their significant contributions to our state and nation.

I am committed to ensuring these brave Americans receive the respect, support, and care they rightfully deserve.

To our veterans and your families, thank you. Your service and sacrifice continue to make Idaho — and America — stronger every single day.
