RISCH:  Idaho Lands, Idaho Management

By Sen. Jim Risch

As a trained forester and rancher, I know that healthy, working public lands are vital to Idaho’s economy and way of life.

I have consistently defended our lands from proposals that go against the will of Idahoans. Stopping Lava Ridge and blocking an attempt to sell Idaho’s public lands in the One Big Beautiful Bill are just two recent successes.

The federal government could learn a thing or two from Idahoans about responsible and effective land management.

For decades, we’ve implemented locally-led, commonsense practices to keep our lands healthy and resilient. By prioritizing multiple-use and working with ranchers, hunters, and others from across the state, Idaho has created solutions that yield real, positive results.

I will continue fighting to keep local leaders at the forefront of land management decisions and ensure generations of Idahoans can enjoy our public lands.

POLL: How do you think public lands should be managed?

  • For timber, grazing, and other economic uses.
  • Primarily for conservation.
  • By the State, not the Federal Government.
  • Primarily for recreation.
  • Sometimes sold in a limited capacity.
