By Congressman Mike Simpson
Dear Friend,
The August District Work Period has officially come to an end. It was a great month spent in Idaho’s Second District. I appreciate all of the opportunities to meet with Idahoans on the ground. From Boise to Idaho Falls and Ketchum to Soda Springs, with many other cities in between, it was a productive month filled with valuable conversations and meetings.
One critical aspect of the District Work Period is identifying opportunities to assist Idaho communities in Congress. One of these ways is through Community Project Funding. In addition to meeting with Idahoans on the ground here, I have also been highlighting recent Community Funding Projects for which I have advanced funding.
As Idaho’s only appropriator, I have the unique opportunity to fight for Idaho’s priorities and ensure Idahoans’ hard-earned tax dollars return to Idaho. Community Funding Projects fill a clear and present need in communities across Idaho and enjoy broad community support. I firmly believe that your tax dollars should come home, rather than being spent on projects in blue states like New York or California. You can read about some of these projects below.
Advancing Funding to Build a New Elementary School at Mountain Home Air Force Base
The construction of a new elementary school at Mountain Home Air Force Base is crucial to meet the growing needs of our active duty servicemembers and their families.
A modern, well-equipped facility will provide a supportive learning environment for over 300 Stephensen Elementary School students. By supporting our military children, their families, and the broader Mountain Home community, this project underscores our commitment and promise to those who serve. Advancing Funding for Idaho Falls Regional Airport Terminal Expansion
As Idaho Falls continues to grow, it is essential that the airport grows with it. Expanding the Idaho Falls Regional Airport will better serve the Idaho Falls community, support local jobs, and enhance the city’s status as a top destination for travelers and economic opportunities.
I have been a steadfast supporter of our local airports, and I am pleased that this funding will facilitate these necessary improvements. You can read more about this project here.

Advancing Funding for the Idaho Water Center
In Idaho, we know how valuable water is to our economy and way of life. However, to ensure future generations can adequately address agricultural, urban, and rural water needs, we must invest in critical infrastructure.
This funding will support the Idaho Water Center, equipping it to gather vital water quantity and quality data for future water use. You can read more about this project here, and find public support below.
