On Wednesday, Idaho Freedom Foundation president Ron Nate issued the following statement regarding the Supreme Court’s Decision to uphold a Tennessee state ban on transgender youth surgeries:
Today is a landmark decision for not only our state, but our nation.
In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court upheld a Tennessee state law banning trans surgeries and hormone blockers for minors. This historic decision sets a precedent that will confirm similar laws in 25 other states, Idaho included, as constitutional.
In 2023, we invited detransitioner Chloe Cole to Idaho to share her heartbreaking story. She went into excruciating detail about her journey, how children are being targeted with radical gender ideology, how the medical establishment profits from their confusion, and how so-called ‘gender-affirming care’ causes deep, lasting harm. It was these surgeries that led both her and others down a dark path from which they are still recovering.…”
We were honored to play a role in getting House Bill 71, the Vulnerable Child Protection Act, across the finish line. It wouldn’t have happened, though, if not for Chloe. She spoke to legislative leadership in a private meeting to convince them of the harm these surgeries cause. Chloe had a profound impact, as just a year before this very same bill died in committee.
Nate concluded on an optimistic note:
But the real victory today belongs to our nation’s youth. They will no longer be subjected to woke, dangerous medical experiments imposed by far-left ideologues who only seek to hurt our children and undermine traditional gender roles.
We are happy to see that common sense has prevailed, and are eager to see the remaining states around the nation join us to ban this barbaric practice once and for all.
