By Sen. Jim Risch
With over 200,000 small businesses powering our economy, we consistently rank among the top 10 states to start a business. Our success didn’t happen by accident—it was built by the hard work, grit, and the resilience of Idahoans.
As a small business owner, I know firsthand the challenges and frustrations entrepreneurs face.
I’ve used this experience to advance legislation that removes barriers, cuts red tape, and gives small businesses the tools they need to succeed, including:
- The Small Business Disaster Coordination Act to improve on-the-ground support for small businesses affected by disaster;
- The Simplifying Subcontracting Act to help more small businesses and entrepreneurs pursue federal government contracts;
- The Main Street Tax Certainty Act to make permanent the 20% tax deduction for pass-through businesses created by President Trump’s 2017 tax cuts;
- The Zero-Based Regulations Act to reduce excessive red tape and hold federal agencies accountable; and
- The Repealing Big Brother Overreach Act to overturn the Corporate Transparency Act and protect small businesses from excessive federal reporting requirements.
Idaho small businesses succeed when government gets out of the way.
As a member of the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, I’m honored to fight for Idaho’s small businesses and empower the hardworking Idahoans that make our state strong.
