SATURDAY ROUNDUP: 8/3/24

The long hot summer continues, and both local and national happenings are staying hot as well. Summer fair season has begun — I’m typing this on the way to the Gem & Boise County Fair in Emmett — which means that no matter where you live it’s time to celebrate America. As the new shirts over at Citizens Alliance say: “Idaho is what America was.”

Let’s keep it that way.

As you know, I am entirely reader supported:

  • Paid subscribers via Substack get bonus notes with most articles, giving me an opportunity to share behind-the-scenes thoughts with supporters, as well as early access to podcasts and significant discounts in the merch store.
  • Do you have a small business you want to advertise? I’ll put your ad on the top of the Chronicle homepage, on the article sidebar, and will shout it out on any podcasts I release during the sponsorship. I’ll also write an article on behalf of sponsors, whether about a particular issue or just sharing their story. Send me a message and we’ll get it done. Check out this month’s sponsor, Mac Attack HVAC in Sweet!
  • Finally, I also offer freelance writing and editing services. Reach out to me if you have a project you’d like me to consult with you on.

Stay tuned for more episodes of the Daily Minute. I was working on a big project this week so I didn’t get any recorded but I’ll return soon. You can find the Daily Minute on YouTube, Rumble, Facebook, X, and even TikTok!

Last week at the Chronicle…

On Monday, I examined the question of whether it is laws or people which protect our rights. “What is a law compared to the men and women who enforce it?”

On Tuesday, I took a look at taxes in the Treasure Valley. Boise and Meridian are hiking taxes a lot, Ada County is raising taxes a little, and my hometown of Eagle is not raising taxes at all.

On Thursday, I returned to the specter of men punching women for sport and how our society has gone completely crazy with regards to the differences between boys and girls.

I would share with you the livestream I did with Matt Edwards and Elizabeth Farah for WorldNetDaily, but the International Olympic Committee has been filing copyright claims on everything they can, so the video is unavailable.

In other news…

The Incomparable Michael Malice joined Joe Rogan for a long conversation about Donald Trump, Kamala Harris, and the state of the world. Turn this one on while working in the garden or washing dishes, though not while children are around.

On his own show, Michael Malice interviewed Carl Benjamin, British YouTuber and political commentator. They talk about the state of the world, politics in Britain and the US, and Carl’s journey from classical liberalism to…something new.

Christian YouTuber Allie Beth Stuckey interviewed Meg Basham, who has spent the last four years exposing how progressive organizations have infiltrated the evangelical church. This is an important video for anyone interested in the future of Christianity in America.

Also this week, Auron Macintyre interviewed Pastor Joel Webbon about his disagreements with dispensational theology. Even if you subscribe to a pre-millenial eschatological viewpoint, this video is worth your time because of the way in which it presents an alternative perspective.

Tim Pool hosted Paul Dans of the Heritage Foundation on his Culture War show to explain what Project 2025 really is and what it is not. Dans stepped down from Heritage on the same day, reportedly under pressure from Donald Trump’s campaign managers. Watch the whole thing to learn the truth:

Finally, Rudyard Lynch of Whatifalthist published a very provocative video looking into the conclusions about modern society that drove the Unabomber, Ted Kaczynski, to his infamous campaign of terror.

Upcoming events…

Donald Trump is holding a rally in Bozeman, Montana this Friday, only seven hours away from the Treasure Valley. Tickets are first come, first serve, so grab them now and gas up the car!

Thank you all for your support as I continue to bring you news and analysis that empowers you to make positive change in Idaho. Make sure to subscribe, follow me on Twitter, and follow the Chronicle on Facebook, Telegram, YouTube, and Rumble. Have a great weekend!
