Letters to the Editor: 5/8/24

Special attention to Idaho District 20 voters:

With Primary election season now upon us, maybe it’s the perfect time for us Idaho voters to think about and re-examine both the significance and the importance of constitutional and representative government.

As an example in the process, we can reference the public service record of one legislative incumbent, District 20’s state Senator Chuck Winder: If seriously checking both his senatorial conduct to date and his voting record, can you honestly say that Chuck Winder truly represents your values and promotes the kinds of legislation that you support?

Strangely, Chuck Winder is a Republican, and yet votes regularly with Democrats. How do we explain that??

In serving as Senate Pro Temp, how about his reputation for blocking and stashing into committee drawers bills that he doesn’t happen to like?!

How about his support for SB 1147, appropriating 27 million+ dollars in support of CRT and LGBTQ issues and transgender-based medicine?

And his backing of SB 1176, giving Idaho colleges and universities special funding to fill Social Justice and DEI positions to serve gender equity centers, cultural centers and offices of equity and inclusion, etc., etc..

Certainly the Idaho Senate can do way better! For a stark contrast, check out challenger candidate Josh Keyser at: joshkeyser4idaho.com.
