H517: Protection of Constitutional Rights

On the floor today, House Majority Leader Jason Monks requested unanimous consent to return H517 to Jud & Rules. No indication yet as to why.

Monday, 2/19/24:

H517 is cosponsored by Rep. Bruce Skaug and Sen. Ben Toews. It gives a cause of action to Idahoans whose 1st amendment rights have been infringed upon by a government agency. They presented the bill to the House Judiciary & Rules Committee this afternoon, where it passed 12-6. A substitute motion made by Rep. Mark Sauter to hold the bill for a few more weeks failed 8-10.
