ISLAND PARK – The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) invites the public to attend an open house focused on DEQ’s draft 401 water quality certification for the Caldera Flats project.

The event is scheduled for October 28, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Mountain Time at the Fremont County EMS Building in Island Park (4395 County Circle Road, Island Park, Idaho 83429). The meeting room is accessed by the doors on the west end of the building.

Representatives from DEQ will be available to provide information and answer questions related to the draft water quality certification, regulatory authority, public comments, water quality standards, and permitting in general.

Section 401 of the federal Clean Water Act requires state certification for any permit or license issued by a federal agency for an activity that may result in a discharge into the waters of the United States. Water quality certifications ensure projects comply with state water quality standards and any other water quality requirements under state law.
