RELEASE: IFPC Legal Center Secures Settlement in Workplace Pronoun Case

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 19, 2026

BOISE – The IFPC Legal Center has secured a monetary settlement for Adam Hahn, a North Idaho manufacturing supervisor who was ultimately fired after refusing to use a female name and preferred pronouns to refer to a male colleague who identified as transgender. Hahn served in the United States Army for 22 years with a spotless employment record, five combat deployments, and a 100% disability rating.

Earlier this year, the IFPC Legal Center filed religious discrimination charges with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Idaho Human Rights Commission on Hahn’s behalf.

The religious discrimination charges detailed how Hahn – who was employed by MOR Manufacturing in Post Falls – was ultimately fired after he refused to use biologically inaccurate pronouns to refer to a transgender-identifying colleague. Hahn requested a religious accommodation from the company and also gave his coworkers information about their right to request an accommodation under Title VII. MOR Manufacturing disciplined him, accusing him of talking to other employees about his “religious . . . beliefs.” Hahn eventually submitted a two-weeks’ notice of resignation because of the hostility he experienced as a result of his religious beliefs. But rather than letting him leave peacefully, MOR Manufacturing fired him during his last week on the job—saying he was a “distraction” in the workplace.

The religious discrimination charges alleged violations of the Idaho Human Rights Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, both of which protect employees from religious discrimination in the workplace. Title VII specifically requires employers to reasonably accommodate employee religious beliefs and prohibits employers from firing employees for those beliefs. The IFPC Legal Center also filed an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). MOR Manufacturing last month paid a settlement of a confidential amount, and all charges were subsequently dismissed.

A statement from Caleb Pirc, IFPC Legal Center Director:

This settlement sends a strong message to employers across Idaho: You can’t fire employees for faithfully living out their Christian convictions. No one should face discrimination over their faith, and Adam’s courage to stand with conviction inspires me and thousands of Christians across Idaho. It’s an honor to have secured this settlement, and I’m proud that our team here at the IFPC Legal Center provided justice for Adam.

A statement from Adam Hahn:

My hope is that this settlement reminds corporations that no employee should ever face discrimination because of their faith. Standing up for my Christian values and beliefs was an easy decision for me. Christ gave everything for me, and enduring hardship for Him is the least I can do. I’m thankful that we were able to reach a settlement of these religious discrimination claims. The IFPC Legal Center has been a blessing from God—supportive, professional, and committed to walking me through every step of the process from beginning to end.
