THE SIMPSON STANDARD: March 1st, 2026

By Congressman Mike Simpson

Dear Friend,

It was an exciting week here in DC! As many of you know, President Donald Trump addressed Congress for his 2026 State of the Union address. After four years of Biden’s failed policies and countless lies, President Trump’s leadership has turned our country around. You can read more about my thoughts on the State of the Union below.

In addition to the State of the Union, I had the opportunity to meet with several Idaho groups. To name a few from this week, I enjoyed chatting with some of Idaho’s very own heroes who are involved with the Wounded Warrior Project, the Idaho Farm Bureau, and the Idaho Potato Commission to discuss several agricultural issues facing our state.

As Idaho Falls continues to grow, it is essential that the airport grows with it. This week, I’m proud to highlight funding that I secured for the Idaho Falls Regional Airport Terminal Expansion Project. Over the last several weeks, I have been proud to highlight the millions of dollars in funding I’ve secured for our great state through 15 separate community funding projects.

Last but not least, I’d like to invite high school students across Idaho’s Second District to enter the High School Congressional Art Competition. Students who enter the competition will have a chance to win a trip to DC to attend a special reception and see their artwork displayed in the Capitol for everyone to see! Deadline is March 13th. Learn more here.

Applauding President Trump’s Leadership

We now have the most secure border in American history, regulatory reform, and our servicemembers and veterans are being taken care of. Crime is plummeting, inflation is down, and we’re no longer reliant on countries that hate us. Thanks to President Trump and Republicans in Congress, an economic comeback is underway. We enacted the largest tax cut in American history, allowing hardworking Americans to keep more of what they earn in real time.

Additionally, we’re creating a new generation of investors with the visionary ‘Trump Accounts.’ Despite Congressional Democrats trying to obstruct President Trump’s policy agenda by voting against economic relief, the financial security of future generations, and engaging in political stunts that jeopardize essential government operations — this time jeopardizing FEMA, the Coast Guard, the Secret Service, and other critical Homeland Security operations — our country is heading in the right direction. Americans are safer, their paychecks are bigger, and this shows that policies truly matter.

Meeting with Idahoans in DC

Sitting down to listen to the issues facing Idahoans is my top priority as your proud representative. Whether in Idaho’s Second District or DC, I always appreciate meeting with Idahoans.

This week, I had the privilege of meeting with the Idaho Farm Bureau. I want to thank them for visiting to discuss important issues affecting Idaho agriculture. I will always fight for those who feed our state and nation.

Bringing Tax Dollars Back to Idaho

Expanding the Idaho Falls Regional Airport will better serve the Idaho Falls community, support local jobs, and enhance the city’s status as a top destination for travelers and economic opportunities.

I have been a steadfast supporter of our local airports, and I am pleased that this funding will facilitate these necessary improvements. Learn more about this project and community support here.
