Defining Moment: 2024 Poses Crucial Decisions for the Future of Our Nation

By IDGOP Chairwoman Dorothy Moon

I write to you today from the Republican National Committee Winter Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada. I’m here with other state chairs and national committee men and women helping prepare for the momentous year ahead.

Before the meeting, I had the privilege of attending the Restoring National Confidence Summit sponsored by Turning Point Action. I connected with countless conservative delegates, activists, and patriots from throughout our great country who are fighting the good fight for faith, family, and freedom just like we are in Idaho. I also got to meet conservative fighters like Steve Bannon, Charlie Kirk, and Scott Presler.

My biggest takeaway from the summit is that the Republican Party needs to listen to the grassroots, now more than ever. Patriotic Americans of every race, religion, and generation are rising up to demand accountability from our elected leaders and courage from our political candidates. The time for coasting on platitudes is over.

2024 is an important year. When I got new license plates a few years ago I chose the number 2024 to remind me every day of what we are working for. Our country is headed in the wrong direction right now under a regime that seems hell bent on deliberately destroying our once great nation. Crime is going up, conflicts are escalating throughout the world, the post-Covid economy has only benefited the super rich, schools continue to indoctrinate rather than educate, and our southern border remains wide open, a huge national security threat.

Regarding the border, I’m thankful to see the state of Texas stepping up to do what the Biden Administration won’t do: enforce the laws on the books that are meant to keep our communities safe. There is a lesson there — it won’t be the federal government that saves America, but the states, supported by grassroots Republican patriots.

It was invigorating to see so many young people attend the Turning Point Action event. These kids aren’t just sitting at home tweeting about the problems they see, they’re getting involved. They are running for precinct committeeman, for county chairman, and some are even stepping up to run for the Legislature.

I was so proud to see Idaho represent itself at the event. We had attendees from Ada, Canyon, Kootenai, Bonneville, and places in between. You can bet that those who attended this week will be coming home fired up to get involved, turn out the grassroots, organize their counties, and most importantly, get out the vote.

Everybody knows what’s at stake this year. We either step up and save our country or we head down the path of a new dark age. What happens in Vegas had better not stay in Vegas, because it’s time to get to work!
